Nation:See Census Bureau methodology.
State:Estimates are based on the component method (vital events and an estimate of net migration based on school-age migration and wage and salary employment change.
County:Estimates are based on the component method, ratio correlation (change in the county's share of state population over the last decade to changes in the county's share of a set of symptomatic data over the same period), and housing unit method.
Cities:Populations are based on actual counts for Sumas and estimates for the other cities based on the housing unit method (estimates population on the basis of housing change and assumptions about occupancy rates and average household size).

Note:The figures represent all the persons who usually reside in the area designated. This includes military personnel and dependents, persons living in correctional institutions, and persons living in nursing homes and other care facilities. College students are considered residents of the place where they live while attending school. Seasonal populations, such as vacationers, are considered residents of their usual residence. Persons with no usual residence are counted where they are on April 1.
